Why

Paws for Purple Hearts trains service dogs for veterans, which has a tangential link to mental health (PTSD support), but the day-to-day work is animal training and instruction, not any of Calder's lanes. She has only light animal-related volunteering (Helen Woodward adoption fundraising, Labs and More events) and no training experience. It is a full-time role with a feeder-to-instructor track that probably cannot wait for her May 2027 graduation. It is in San Diego and paid, but the fit is weak overall.

Watch out for

• Role is dog training, not psychology, research, or victim services
• Requires AS degree and preferably prior animal or volunteer experience; she has no service-dog training background
• Full-time position likely needing a start well before May 2027
• Posting description is truncated
• Salary is an aggregator figure (about $59.5k), not confirmed by employer

Resume angles

• Helen Woodward Animal Center adoption fundraising volunteer work
• Labs and More adoption events volunteering
• Customer-facing service with families and children at Kiddleton
