Why

This is a full-time, paid, SF-based early-career APM rotation at a top-tier employer, with $140K base and a built-in FTE pipeline, so seniority, timing, pay and location all fit. The product domain is design tooling rather than mental health or victim services, and the technical emphasis (design-to-code, engineering architecture, AI workflows) is a real gap since she has no coding or product launch experience. Her UX/UI coursework, Photoshop/Illustrator skills, visual design sensibility, and client-facing research and proposal work give her a credible but non-standard angle. It's worth a low-effort application given the quality of the employer and the short deadline, but it is not a core lane match.

Draft connection note (257/300)

Hi, I'm Calder, a USF psychology senior (May 2027) with UX/UI coursework, applying to Figma's 2027 APM rotation before the Oct 21 deadline. I don't code yet and want to apply honestly. Could I ask you 2 or 3 quick questions about what the program looks for?

Subject: USF senior applying to Figma's 2027 APM rotation, one quick question

Hi [Name],

I'm Calder Salisbury, a psychology senior at the University of San Francisco graduating May 2027, with UX/UI coursework. I'm applying to Figma's Early Career APM rotation before the October 21 deadline.

I'll be upfront: I don't have a coding background or a product launch yet. What I do have is research methods training, four years researching and writing proposals for corporate clients at an art gallery, and daily Excel reporting across three locations in my current operations job.

Would you have 15 minutes in the next week to tell me what separates strong non-engineering applicants for this program? Even a short reply by email would help.

Thank you,
Calder Salisbury

Figma is growing our team of passionate creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all. Figma’s platform helps teams bring ideas to life—whether you're brainstorming, creating a prototype, translating designs into code, or iterating with AI. From idea to product, Figma empowers teams to streamline workflows, move faster, and work together in real time from anywhere in the world. If you're excited to shape the future of design and collaboration, join us!

We're looking for user-driven and deeply technical Associate Product Managers to join our rotation program. You'll help connect AI, design-to-code, and design systems workflows across Figma's suite of products, enabling our millions of users to go from idea to production faster. You'll be a liaison between design and engineering, working to solve complex user experience flows while ensuring they work for the underlying engineering architecture. This is a chance to experience all aspects of the product development process at a rapid pace while gaining exposure across multiple product areas.

This is a full time role based in our San Francisco hub with hybrid flexibility.

Applications must be submitted by Wednesday, October 21st, 2026 at 5:00pm PT to be considered.

 What you'll do at Figma:

Drive forward tightly-scoped, advanced features across Figma products

Collaborate with fellow PMs to advance larger streams and define the multi-year vision for these interconnected product areas

Work closely with customers as large as Microsoft to as small as solo designers to ensure the needs of all users at any scale are met

Partner closely with engineering to ensure the systems are built in a scalable, performant way that advances our needs in the future

Join forces with designers to find ways to present complex user flows in a simple and easy to understand format

Participate in planning and prioritization, tracking key metrics, collaborating on marketing, messaging, positioning, and go-to-market plans

Some projects you could work on:

Design system features that improve adoption and consistency at scale

AI-powered workflows that streamline design processes and enhance creative capabilities

New features that allow designers and developers to build custom plugins and tools

New ways for teams to collaborate as they define, design, and build

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

Comfortability working on deep, technically complex problems and have experience working on user-facing product launches

A knack for visual design and/or design workflows

Excitement about shaping how design evolves in an AI-powered world

Experience with design systems, AI applications in design, or design-to-code tools

A love for designers and building relationships with key customers, with excellent verbal and written communication skills for both internal teams and external high-profile clients
